  Objectives and Activities

The specific objectives of the project concentrate on
         • The identification and training of experts with relevant scientific backgrounds in the methodology of  risk assessment
         •  Strengthening of existing networks at a national and regional level
         •  Improved knowledge of available data to support risk assessment and data deficiencies
Reflecting to the specific objectives, the Project activities include:
         •  Development of a directory of risk assessors and risk managers and support for increased communication and networking. 
         •  Structured training and mentoring in chemical and microbiological risk assessment methodologies including:
         •  intensive training in risk assessment methodology (for 40 participants)
         •  regional risk assessment case studies on a range of food products and risks conducted over a six month period
         •  recall workshops to review the cases studies and refine procedures. 
         • A regional workshop to identify future regional skill and data requirements.
The Target groups for the project are both scientific experts involved in risk assessment and policy as well as regulatory staffs involved in risk management.
